Vital Therapies develops external artificial livers

Vital Therapies was founded as Hepatix in Houston, TX. In 1998, after emerging from bankruptcy, they moved to La Jolla, CA and changed their name to VitaGen. Despite the move, the company didn't last. After going out of business for the second time, Vital Therapies was created in 2003 to acquire the assets of VitaGen and continue the development of their liver therapeutics. |
