History:

VitaGen was founded as Hepatix in Houston, TX. In 1998, after emerging from bankruptcy, they moved to La Jolla, CA and changed their name. Despite the move, the company didn't last. After going out of business for the second time, Vital Therapies was created to acquire the assets of VitaGen and continue the development of their liver therapeutics.
