Third Wave has developed a SNP detection assay, based on the DNA repair enzyme Cleavase, called Invader. The assay is based on a fluorometric readout and in its current form can be performed in duplex. The main advantages of this assay is that it doesn't involve PCR and is fairly sensitive. Third wave is currently (9/2003) in the process of restructuring and gearing more towards clinical molecular diagnostics

History:

Third Wave Technologies was founded in 1993. They changed their name to Third Wave Molecular Diagnostics in 2003 to reflect their new focus on clinical molecular diagnostics.
