Life Technologies is a life science reagents company with the two major brands of Applied Biosystems and Invitrogen.
- History:
Life Technologies merged with GIBCO-BRL to become GIBCO-BRL Life Technologies which has since been bought out by Invitrogen.
And like a phoenix rising from the ashes, Life Technologies is back (at least in name). When Applied Biosystems merged with Invitrogen, the combined company took the old moniker. For now, at least, Applied Biosystems and Invitrogen are still operating as semi-independent business units.
